Ruth Garcia-Anderson Selected to Represent Ward 2 on City of North Las Vegas City Council

At the City of North Las Vegas’ City Council Special Meeting on Dec. 14, 2022, Council appointed Ruth Garcia-Anderson to the Ward 2 vacancy. Anderson is filling an unexpired term ending on Nov. 30, 2024. She is the first Latina to serve on the City of North Las Vegas City Council.

Ward 2 was vacated when Councilwoman and Mayor Pro Tempore, Pamela Goynes-Brown, was elected Mayor of North Las Vegas in November 2022, assuming office Dec.
1, 2022.

Anderson was immediately sworn into office in the Council Chamber by City of North Las Vegas City Clerk Jackie Rodgers. More information about Anderson’s personal and professional background is available in her Council Member Application.

During the City Council Special Meeting, Council heard statements of interest from the eight applicants whose applications met the posted requirements outlined in the Ward 2 vacancy application process, voted on and approved at the special City Council Meeting on Nov. 18, 2022. The eight applicants were also interviewed by City Council members in advance of the Dec. 14 meeting.
