The City of North Las Vegas has planned a trail network that totals over 70 miles. This trail network was adopted as part of the 2019 Citywide Pedestrian & Bicycle Plan (CPBP), depicted in the Network Recommendations Map. The purpose for the Citywide Pedestrian & Bicycle Plan is to develop a network of trails and bikeways and establish design standards, guidelines, goals, objectives, and policies. A key component of the CPBP is the Implementation Plan, which defines priorities for the location, development and maintenance of trails and bikeways, and includes a phasing plan with both short term and long term action strategies.

Funding for the city’s current trail development has been provided by the Bureau of Land Management through the sale of public lands as authorized by the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act. Approximately 15 miles of multi-use trails are available along the Lower Las Vegas Wash and the Upper Las Vegas Wash.

The Las Vegas Wash Regional Trail System, which includes the Lower Las Vegas Wash and the Upper Las Vegas Wash, is located primarily off-street, but in few instances is aligned adjacent to roadways. The trail consists of a 10’ wide asphalt path that is designated “multi-use,” meaning it can accommodate a variety of users such as walkers, joggers, cyclists, skateboarders, strollers, wheelchairs, etc. The trails are not intended for motorized use or equestrians. Trail amenities include landscaping, lighting, trash cans, benches, doggie (trash) stations; trail nodes with shaded rest areas; and trail heads with shaded picnic areas, drinking fountains, and off-street parking.

There is an additional 24 miles of developed multi-use trails in Aliante (located in the northwestern region of North Las Vegas). The Aliante trail system consists of concrete pathways with a minimum width of 8 feet and landscaping on both sides. These trails are located adjacent to streets and in drainage facilities.
