City of North Las Vegas Councilman Isaac Barron Wins APA Distinguished Leadership Award

Honored for Leadership in Planning and Redevelopment Momentum in North Las Vegas.

 

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Oct. 19, 2022) – City of North Las Vegas Councilman Isaac Barron was recently named Distinguished Leader of the Year by the Nevada Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) for his legacy of transformative leadership in terms of planning and redevelopment in and around the City of North Las Vegas.

 

The Nevada Chapter's Planning Awards Program recognizes individuals, organizations and communities for outstanding contributions to planning in their area. The awardees are chosen based on originality and innovation, engagement, implementation and effectiveness, quality, and promotion of sound planning over the years.

 

“Councilman Barron is a fierce advocate for Ward I and the redevelopment and momentum taking shape in the heart of downtown North Las Vegas,” said Mayor John Lee. “His passion, vision and tenacity have helped the City’s economic development efforts in preserving a historic school, reimagining dozens of acres of redevelopment property in the Lake Mead corridor, bringing new dining, medical, educational and professional services to downtown North Las Vegas, and expanding all of the offerings for our Hispanic community.  Isaac is most deserving of this award and we are proud of him for helping to lead the region in transformative development and strategic growth.”

 

Barron served on the Southern Nevada Strong Regional Planning Consortium Committee representing the interests of North Las Vegas residents since 2012 and has long been an advocate for creating a vibrant, walkable hub in the city's core. He has served as Chairman of the North Las Vegas Redevelopment Agency and plays a vital role in reimagining many of North Las Vegas’ infill development opportunities.

 

Barron is a native of North Las Vegas and an award-winning Clark County school teacher. He is a strong community activist and advocate for North Las Vegas youth, mentoring students after school and leading volunteer efforts for community improvement projects.
