North Las Vegas - City Council members, City officials and the community celebrated the reopening of Hartke Park Monday morning.
Hartke Park traded locations with J.D. Smith Middle School after the school was reconstructed on the site of the original park.
Professional BMX rider Ricardo Laguna christened the park by showing off a few tricks inside the skate park. Councilman Isaac Barron (Ward 1) presented Laguna with a proclamation outlining his work in the community and partnerships with the City of North Las Vegas in recent years.
This is one of several large-scale park improvement projects being completed in North Las Vegas this year.
Hartke Park features three soccer fields with premier LED lighting, a skate park, splash pad, two covered playgrounds, basketball courts, picnic ramadas, and restrooms. The park is located next to Neighborhood Recreation Center, which offers a variety of indoor sports and activities.
