Why: Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG): are funded by the federal government through the Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD).
The purpose of the CDBG program is to assist communities in providing decent housing, suitable living environments, and opportunities to expand economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income families and individuals. The purpose of the ESG program is to assist individuals and families quickly regain stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis or homelessness.
