The North Las Vegas Police Department Traffic Division is staffed by 12 officers, 2 sergeants and 1 lieutenant and is responsible for the proactive enforcement of traffic laws with the goal of reducing roadway collisions, and investigation of collisions, particularly hit and run, serious injury, and traffic fatalities. Traffic Officers (commonly referred to as "Motors") enforce all traffic laws. They focus on the most dangerous violations and frequent crash locations identified through statistical analysis.

The Crossing Guard Unit is currently staffed with 2 coordinators and 109 crossing guards and is managed by the Traffic Division supervisor.  Crossing Guards ensure the safety of children at designated street crossing locations near elementary schools at the beginning and end of the school day.

 is a two day program involving Mojave High School juniors and seniors that encourages them to think about personal safety when alcohol is involved, making mature decisions and recognizing that their actions affect others.
