| Will my name be kept confidential? |
Yes. The Code Enforcement Division's confidentiality policy strictly prohibits the release of any complainant information to the public. It is sometimes necessary to contact the person reporting a violation for clarification or to obtain additional information. Insufficient information will cause a delay in resolution, or the complaint will be set aside until the person calls again.
|
| How long does it take to resolve code violations I report? |
Every effort is made to inspect the property within three business days. Potential life safety hazards are treated as a high priority.
Most violations are resolved within two weeks after a violation notice is issued. When the responsible party fails to correct the violations, a citation is issued–the court date is scheduled four to six weeks from the date the citation is written. If violations are corrected before the court date, the case is closed. Continued noncompliance prolongs the process.
